Frequently asked questions

Clarity on our mission, our map, and how we connect you to real food.

How do I buy food through Locavor?

You don’t. Locavor is a discovery layer, not a marketplace. We provide the map and the connection, but the transaction happens directly between you and the producer - exactly as nature intended. Whether it’s a farm stand, a creamery, or a cellar door, we help you find the way; the rest is a human connection.

Is everything on the map "Organic"?

We prioritize transparency over labels. Many of our producers follow regenerative, heritage, or organic practices but may not carry a formal certification. Our goal is to give you the clarity to see how your food is grown and the proximity to ask the farmers yourself. We focus on real, whole food, regardless of the badge.

Why can’t I find certain items year-round?

Locavor breathes with the seasons. If you’re looking for heirloom tomatoes in February, you won't find them here. Our platform shifts its focus based on the current harvest to respect the natural rhythm of the land. This restraint ensures that what you discover is always fresh, local, and at its peak.

Does Locavor charge farmers a fee to be listed?

No. We believe local food producers are the backbone of a healthy community and are often unfairly invisible online. Listing on Locavor is - and will remain - free for producers. We do not take a cut of their sales, nor do we sell ads. We are here to promote visibility, betterment, and longevity for local agriculture.
