Nestled in the rocky and rolling hills of Brookfield, Vermont, just north of the town's famous floating bridge on Sunset Lake, 1000 Stone Farm stands as a testament to sustainable agriculture and community connection. This 4-season certified organic homestead farm operates with a clear mission: providing the community with year-round food at costs that are realistic for consumers, supportive of farmers, and beneficial to the land itself. The farm focuses on regenerative agricultural practices that work towards farming for the future, creating food that serves as true medicine for those who consume it.
At the helm of this endeavor is Kyle Doda, a Virginia native who made Vermont his home in 2012 to be closer to his extended family in New England and the mountains where he pursues his passions for backpacking, skiing, and mountain biking. Kyle chose Vermont specifically to become part of a community that believes in and actively supports sustainability, particularly in areas of food production, clean water, and maintaining a healthy climate that supports agriculture. His commitment to organic farming stems from a deep desire to care for the land that feeds him while doing his best for the planet by investing his resources in healthy local ecosystems.
The farm serves a diverse customer base, from local restaurants and cooperatives to neighbors down the street, all united by their appreciation for sustainably and healthily grown food. Kyle finds particular joy in discovering innovative ways to produce nutritious, high-quality food on a small piece of land. Customers can access 1000 Stone Farm's offerings through multiple channels: their on-farm store, the Burlington Farmers Market, their comprehensive CSA program, and their on-farm restaurant 'The Farmers Hand,' as well as through various local restaurants and cooperative markets throughout the region.
