About the Farm

Nestled on seven acres of south-facing slope in Vermont's West River valley, Anjali Farm carries the weight of agricultural history on its shoulders. This South Londonderry property served as a working dairy from 1840 until 1965, then transitioned through decades of haying, pasturing, and mowing before lying fallow until 2000. When Emmett, Lini, and Anisha took stewardship in 2001, they breathed new life into land that had rested for five years, beginning a 25-year journey of cultivation that would transform the property into something beyond its original purpose.

The farm operates as a living testament to biodynamic agriculture, practicing methods that reach "beyond organic" through holistic land stewardship. From 2000 to 2016, Anjali Farm held Vermont Organic Farmers certification, but their commitment to biodynamic practices has remained unwavering since they planted their first seed. The farmers understand their role not as masters of the land, but as current stewards in a long line of humans, plants, and animals who have shaped this balanced ecosystem over centuries.

Today, Anjali Farm specializes in medicinal herbs, environmental education, and heirloom seed saving while maintaining diverse production that includes vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs, hops, and perennial fruit crops. Their small-batch herbal tea line, E's Teas, represents years of experimentation with family health remedies, while their pick-your-own berry patch, farmstand, CSA shares, and community events create multiple touchpoints for visitors to experience this carefully tended habitat. The bustling 45-member West River Farmers' Market sits just a mile down the road, connecting the farm to a vibrant local food network.
