Barnstable Sea Farms has been in operation since 1991, cultivating oysters across more than seven acres in two distinct growing areas on Cape Cod. Their Sandy Neck oysters are raised in cages and bags on the north side of the Cape in Barnstable Harbor, available from early summer to mid-winter, with a briny flavor and delicate shell. Their Garrison Point oysters are grown right on the bottom in Osterville's West Bay, available January through late summer, offering a thicker shell and more mineral flavor.
Every single oyster is inspected throughout the growing season and hand-bagged before going to market, ensuring high quality and good cup depth without the need for tumbling. The farm is a licensed wholesale dealer with a state-certified, HACCP-compliant processing facility. They sell to wholesalers, restaurants, and direct retail customers by the dozen or 100-count bag, and also offer raw bar services for special events such as weddings, parties, and business functions. The farm has partnered with the Mass Audubon Society to offer oyster farm tours with informational sessions and tastings.
