Bordua Farms is a steadfast family-run farm located on Main Street in South Windsor, Connecticut. Since 1990, the Bordua family has remained dedicated to the tradition of farming in the Connecticut River Valley. Founded by Fran Bordua, a former carpenter who pursued his dream of farming, Bordua Farms began as a humble venture and has since grown into a deeply rooted community institution known for its dedication to quality, sustainability, and family values.
Over the decades, the farm has passed into the capable hands of Fran’s sons, Justin and Nathan, who now operate Bordua Farms with the same passion and integrity their father instilled. While the farm initially earned its reputation through premium broadleaf tobacco grown for the global cigar market, it has evolved into a diverse agricultural operation. Today, the farm spans more than 100 acres, offering fresh vegetables, fruit, and pork products, along with a vibrant CSA program and even a weekend coffee cart. The brothers’ hands-on approach ensures every product reflects their standards for health, sustainability, and community care.
Bordua Farms follows organic growing practices for the vast majority of its produce (though not certified), with transparency around crops that use conventional methods—namely sweet corn, squash, and pumpkins. Their CSA is a celebration of local food and seasonal rhythms, with weekly pick-ups that allow customers to connect directly with their farmers. The farm also raises heritage breed, non-GMO pork without hormones or steroids, offering a wide variety of cuts and specialty items. In every offering, Bordua Farms champions the values of trust, transparency, and deeply rooted stewardship of land and community.
