Brandon Family Farm is a vibrant, Certified Organic farm rooted in the fertile soils of West Kingston, Rhode Island. Founded in the summer of 2014 by Alby Brandon, the farm began as a humble project on leased land. By 2015, the focus turned exclusively to Certified Organic fruits and vegetables—a commitment that has guided the farm’s practices ever since. With steady, thoughtful expansion, Brandon Family Farm grew from just 3 acres to over 15 acres of production by 2019, a testament to both vision and tenacity.
At the heart of the farm are Alby and Heather Brandon, who together steward the land with a deep respect for ecology and community. Their team of four, bolstered by seasonal help, cultivates over 40 varieties of fruits and vegetables using methods that honor soil health, biodiversity, and seasonal rhythms. Green manures, compost, mulches, and cover crops are foundational tools in their organic toolbox, reflecting their philosophy that “healthy soil grows healthy crops, and healthy crops grow healthy humans.” With the addition of eight greenhouses and 1.5 acres of blueberries on their Liberty Lane property, the farm has embraced passive solar growing to extend seasons naturally and sustainably.
Brandon Family Farm is as much a community endeavor as it is an agricultural one. Through their beloved CSA program, pick-your-own strawberry fields, and the South Kingstown Farmers Market, Alby and Heather have created a space where fresh, local food is celebrated and accessible. Their plant sales—offering home gardeners organic starts grown from seed—further underscore their mission to spread real, nourishing food from the ground up. A farm store is on the horizon for 2025, signaling a new chapter in what continues to be a story of growth, generosity, and grounded stewardship.
