About the Farm

Cape Tip Seafoods has weathered the tides of change for over three decades, evolving from a fishing operation into one of Cape Cod's premier seafood distributors. The story begins with tragedy and resilience: in 1976, Captain Billy King was lost at sea during an October gale aboard the Patricia Marie, along with six others. His legacy lived on through his son Chris King, who returned from four years fishing the Bering Sea in Alaska to establish what would become a family seafood empire.

Chris King's vision transformed the business from a single fishing vessel into a vertically integrated operation that bridges the gap between local fishermen and customers seeking the freshest seafood. In 1995, Cape Tip Fisheries was born when King secured a lease at Fishermen's Wharf, servicing dozens of local draggers, scallopers, and lobster boats. As fishing regulations tightened in the late 1990s and Provincetown's groundfish fleet was reduced by 80 percent, the company adapted once again, becoming Cape Tip Seafoods in 1999 with a mission to provide the freshest local seafood to Cape restaurants and fish markets.

Today, Cape Tip Seafoods operates through two locations and maintains its own family-run scalloper, the F/V Donna Marie, which provides superior Provincetown Dayboat Sea Scallops. The company's trucks venture out before sunrise daily, sourcing selections from major seafood hubs including Boston, Gloucester, and New Bedford. Through constant adaptation to volatile business climates, changing regulations, and even developing home delivery services during the pandemic, Cape Tip Seafoods has proven that dedication to quality and stellar customer service can sustain a business through any storm.
