About the Farm

Nestled in the rolling hills of southern New Hampshire, Clark Ridge Farm represents over a century of family stewardship. The current land where Clarkridge Farm sits has been in the Clark family for more than 100 years, carrying forward a rich agricultural heritage that has evolved into its present form as a small, diversified, pasture-based operation. Through generations of care and cultivation, the family has maintained their commitment to working with the land they have been given, constantly experimenting and learning what practices work best for their unique terrain.

The farm's recent history bears the profound influence of Lt. James B. Clark, who embodied the true spirit of agricultural dedication. Having grown up on the family land, Jim traveled after college but was inevitably drawn back to the farm when his father passed away. He lived every child's dream, balancing dual passions as both a firefighter and a farmer, while also expressing his deep connection to the land through painting and poetry. The farm itself became his muse, providing endless inspiration for his artistic works, and his love for the property ran so deep that he never wanted to leave.

Today, following Jim's sudden passing on April 11, 2013, the farm continues to honor his memory and vision with unwavering support from family and friends. The operation maintains its focus on producing grass-fed beef, pastured pork, maple syrup, and timber, all guided by a philosophy of raising each form of life according to its natural needs. Their decisions remain grounded in logic and respect for the animals, the land, their family, and their community, with the ultimate goal of preserving the land's vitality for future generations.
