About the Farm

Copicut Farms operates with a clear mission to provide Massachusetts communities with the healthiest and highest quality meats and eggs possible while treating their animals and environment with utmost respect and care. Elizabeth Frary's family has been farming in Massachusetts for four generations, and she was raised on her parents' farm and orchard in Dighton and Somerset, Massachusetts, working many years in the family's farm stand as well as cultivating and harvesting crops. She now wears many hats on the farm, processing chickens in the slaughterhouse, moving sheep to new pasture with her canine companion Lucy, and chatting with customers at farmers' markets from Winchester down to Dartmouth.

Vincent Frary serves as the farm's resident jack of all trades, responsible for managing all aspects of animal production and processing on the farm. With a background in ecological sciences, he's particularly well-suited at managing the farm's multi-species grazing program in a manner that enhances the viability of all plants, soils, livestock, and wildlife that reside on and around their farm. When he isn't in the fields or slaughterhouse, he can typically be found crawled under one of their old tractors or trucks trying to find the source of the latest oil leak or new strange noise.

The farm's commitment to pasture-raising means all animals are raised outdoors with constant access to chemical-free pastures where they're free to forage for grass, legumes, and insects throughout all but the harshest winter months. Elizabeth currently serves as a board member for The Livestock Institute of Southern New England as well as the Hingham Farmers' Market, while the farm demonstrates its community involvement by donating over 500 dozen eggs and 300 pounds of poultry to local food pantries and community fundraisers last year.
