Cross Farm is a small, diversified, certified organic livestock farm nestled in the quiet agricultural town of Barnet, in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The farm was established in 2015 by owner and operator Zach Mangione on a historic piece of farmland, and it received its certified organic status from Vermont Organic Farmers, Vermont's USDA Certifying Agency, just one year later in 2016. From its earliest days, Cross Farm has been guided by a commitment to raising animals the right way and producing the highest quality meat at a fair price.
The farm specializes in 100% grass-fed lamb, certified organic pasture-raised pork, and pasture-raised chicken and turkey. Mangione believes deeply that pasture-raised organic meats are not only better for the land and the animals, but also for the people who eat them, offering lower levels of saturated fats and higher levels of polyunsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The farm's self-serve farm store is open daily and stocked with a wide variety of cuts, from whole chickens and lamb racks to pork chops, sausages, and ground beef from neighboring Badger Brook Meats.
