Devriendt Farm has been a beloved family operation for over 28 years, with Dan and Lea Devriendt working alongside their three children, Jesse, Jason, and Erica, who have been helping with the farm since they were old enough to pick vegetables. The family established their current location in 1995, starting with a simple farm stand and a single greenhouse, but their dedication to quality and growth has transformed the operation into something truly special.
Today, the farm boasts an impressive 14 greenhouses where they start and grow all of their own annuals, bedding plants, hanging plants, patio pots, perennials, shrubs, roses, and vegetable plants. Their outdoor growing spaces are dedicated to chrysanthemums, garden vegetables, cut flowers, and Christmas trees, while their secondary location on Story Road features 2.5 acres of pick-your-own strawberries and pumpkins, complete with a corn maze. The farm also operates an ice cream stand serving Bliss Ice Cream, made by New England Ice Cream, a company that has been crafting ice cream since 1929.
Environmental stewardship runs deep at Devriendt Farm, demonstrated by their installation of three wood-fired furnaces in 2008 to heat their greenhouses. This forward-thinking decision reduced their oil consumption by over 85%, allowing them to maintain both their prices and the quality of their plants while minimizing their environmental impact. The family takes pride in recycling plastic pots, reusing carrying trays, and using paper cups in their ice cream stand instead of styrofoam. Their commitment extends beyond sustainability to genuine customer care, offering plant diagnosis, gardening advice, and custom holiday decorating services that reflect their deep passion for helping others succeed in their gardens.
