Founded in 1917, E. Draghi & Sons, LLC is a family-run farm that has grown into one of the most beloved agricultural institutions in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. Its story began when Angelo Draghi, an Italian immigrant who arrived in New York with just $15, purchased a rocky farm nestled in the hills of Foote Road. With determination and the help of his sons and a loyal draft horse, Angelo transformed the rugged terrain into fruitful orchards, laying the groundwork for generations of farming excellence.
The farm passed through generations, adapting and expanding with the times. In 1968, Angelo’s sons Gino and Andrew acquired the farmstand on Main Street, and in 1980, Gino’s son Darrell joined the business—marking the rise of its third generation. With a passion for horticulture, Darrell introduced greenhouses and launched a robust flower-growing operation, eventually establishing six greenhouses including a state-of-the-art sales house. The bakery was later added, and quickly became known for its wide array of scratch-made pies, breads, cookies, quiches, and more.
Today, E. Draghi & Sons continues under Darrell’s stewardship, with the loyal support of his mother Sandra, sister Cheryl, and a dedicated team. The farm is a celebration of tradition, seasonal abundance, and hospitality—from daily baked goods and native produce to custom flower arrangements and holiday offerings. Whether stopping by for a pie or picking up Christmas greenery, customers are welcomed like family into this enduring legacy of local agriculture.
