About the Farm

Falls Farm emerged from the vision of Dr. Jim Arcoleo, a cardiologist who has served the Franklin County community for nearly two decades with offices in Greenfield, Northampton, Holyoke and Springfield. What began as a small garden in Conway ten years ago has blossomed into a thriving Community Supported Agriculture operation. After eight years of searching for the perfect location, Dr. Arcoleo found the ideal spot when the opportunity to purchase the current farm land presented itself, chosen by previous owners who wanted someone who would preserve the beauty of the property rather than pursue subdivision or development.

The transformation of Falls Farm required substantial time, knowledge and financial commitment, with Dr. Arcoleo describing it as an incredibly steep learning curve. In 2020, the farm took its first major steps by drilling an irrigation well, planting 400 fruit trees of all varieties, and growing about three acres of heirloom vegetables. By 2021, the operation had expanded dramatically to grow 12 to 15 acres of vegetables while adding another 400 fruit trees, plus various types of berries, grapes, and asparagus that would take additional years to start producing.

Driven by his medical background and understanding that good quality, naturally produced food is a main component of people's quality of life, Dr. Arcoleo has witnessed many families struggle to afford good food. Falls Farm operates with a mission to make fresh, locally grown produce accessible and affordable to everyone in the community. The farm takes pride in sustainable farming practices, growing heirloom vegetables in the rich soil of Pioneer Valley, with plans to eventually run as much of the operation as possible on solar power while continuously learning to grow as efficiently as possible.
