Fernwood Farm is a small home farm in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, co-founded by John and Connor Dearborn. What started with a simple backyard garden grew steadily, year after year, with new plants, new ideas, and eventually a flock of chickens that arrived on a whim and quickly won the family over. A handbuilt coop soon followed, and then a greenhouse, constructed by hand on a day when the Dearborns found themselves with nothing else to do.
The rhythm of the farm follows the seasons closely. During the warmer months, a self-serve farm stand at 126 Fernwood Drive offers fresh eggs, seasonal vegetables, and specialty items. When autumn arrives, the Dearborns set up pumpkins, gourds, and fall favorites at a partnering property. And through the cold winter months, the work continues behind the scenes: tending to the birds, turning compost into the gardens, and preparing for maple syrup season. From January through March, late nights are spent gathering sap, boiling, and perfecting their handmade maple syrup, which sells out every year.
Fernwood Farm is rooted in a commitment to sustainability, quality, and community. The Dearborns are constantly improving their skills and care for their animals, and they take pride in sharing the fruits of that labor with their neighbors. It is a place where good food and good stewardship go hand in hand.
