About the Farm

George Hall Farm has been a cornerstone of organic agriculture in Connecticut since its founding in 1966. Located on Old Farms Road in Simsbury, this multigenerational farm was started by George Hall, a visionary who adopted environmentally safe farming techniques long before they were widely recognized. In 1979, the farm became one of the first in the state to achieve certified organic status, a commitment it proudly upholds today through the Baystate Organic Certifiers.

Now managed by George’s nephew Daren Hall, along with his wife Janet and their three children, the farm spans over 50 acres dedicated to the production of diverse, nutrient-rich vegetables. With the addition of hoop houses to extend the growing season and a deep investment in heirloom and specialty crops, the farm produces high-quality food from early spring through late winter. Alongside produce, the farm is also home to egg-laying hens, honey bees, and pasture-raised pork.

George Hall Farm is more than a working farm—it’s an educational space and a community hub. It offers robust CSA programs, participates in top farmers' markets, and invites the next generation through student programs and internships. Daren’s team of trained oxen, Moe and Curly and Eli and Sam, even contribute to the farm’s unique charm, drawing interest from families and children. Rooted in tradition yet forward-looking in practice, George Hall Farm remains a model for sustainable farming and community-supported agriculture in New England.
