About the Farm

Guillemette Farm was founded in 1948 by Ludger and Cecile Guillemette on Route 116 in Shelburne, Vermont, where it began as a working dairy operation. For decades, the rhythms of dairy farming shaped the family's life on this stretch of fertile land in Chittenden County. The farm has remained in the Guillemette family ever since, a testament to the deep ties between the family and the land they have tended for more than seven decades.

In 2023, the Guillemettes made the decision to stop milking cows, marking the close of one chapter and the beginning of another. Today, the farm is still very much a family affair. Bernie Guillemette, the second generation to run the operation, manages a beef herd, while his son Kyle, along with Kyle's wife and children, oversees the produce, sunflower fields, and farm stand operations. The farm stand, established in 2021, was conceived as a way to diversify the farm and create a community gathering space that would help foster the public's appreciation for agriculture.

Guillemette Farm now grows eye-catching sunflower fields, a large pumpkin patch with over 100 varieties of pumpkins and squash, and fresh cut flower, herb, and vegetable gardens. Visitors can enjoy pick-your-own sunflowers, pumpkins, and herbs throughout the season. The self-serve farm stand offers home-grown and local products, and the family takes pride in supporting as many Vermont farmers and makers as possible.
