About the Farm

Hand to the Plough Homestead is a small, family owned and operated farm that emerged from an unexpected journey. The owners never imagined owning livestock or milking cows, but their own healing journey to nourish their children with the most nutrient dense food led them to farming. This personal quest for better nutrition transformed into a passionate commitment to producing as much of their own food supply as possible.

The farm centers around Opal, a registered Milking Shorthorn who currently gives 2.5-3.0 gallons of milk per day. Opal is described as a good mother who generously calf shared while raising her June 2025 heifer, Ruby, who will be staying on the farm as a second milk cow. The farm maintains high standards of care, feeding Opal organic grain and forage while practicing excellent sanitation in their milking routine including a double iodine dip and foremilk strip.

Operating with a self-serve farm store setup in their garage, Hand to the Plough Homestead accepts cash or Venmo payments and offers free pamphlets with information from the Weston A. Price foundation about raw milk and traditional nutrition. They look forward to supplying more milk to the local community as they expand their operations. The farm also raises free range Delaware and Ameraucana chickens on organic feed, rounding out their commitment to providing nutrient-dense, traditionally produced foods to their community.
