About the Farm

Holly Hill Farm stands as Cohasset's only working farm, situated on land that has been farmed continuously since the 17th century. The property rests along the historic Quanohassit, an indigenous term meaning long, rocky shore, surrounded by 18th century farm buildings on beautiful conservation land. The land has remained in the White family for six generations and is now privately owned and maintained by three branches of the family who graciously make portions available to the community.

In 1998, Frank and Jean White began cultivating an organic farm on approximately 5 acres of their property adjacent to Jerusalem Road. Their vision expanded in 2002 when they established the non-profit Friends of Holly Hill Farm, which now oversees the farm operation and runs year-round educational and community activities. Jean White remains a daily fixture on the farm alongside other family members who continue the agricultural tradition.

As a certified organic farm since 2000, Holly Hill Farm has maintained USDA organic certification every year while embracing regenerative farming practices including cover crops, no-till techniques, and crop rotation. The farm operates as a living classroom with an educational mission, growing food in all seasons through both field cultivation and heated greenhouses. Beyond production, the farm demonstrates deep community commitment through its Farm to Food Pantry program, donating over 4,500 pounds of fresh vegetables and flowers annually to seven local food pantries, and operating the Holly Hill Farm SHARES program to ensure healthy food access for families facing food insecurity.
