Established in 2014, Hop N Hen Farm is located in the heart of Henniker, New Hampshire, where a deep commitment to sustainable agriculture guides every aspect of their operation. The farm has built its foundation on providing customers and the local community with healthy, nutritious, organic food that is completely free from unnatural chemicals, pesticides, and GMOs. Their dedication to humane agricultural practices reflects a philosophy that honors both the land and the animals in their care.
As a certified organic producer, Hop N Hen Farm has earned recognition from the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association for their vegetables, fruits, eggs, and poultry, and they proudly hold certification with the Real Organic Project. The farm processes all their broiler chickens and turkeys on site, ensuring complete control over quality and food safety. Their membership in the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Hampshire demonstrates their commitment to the broader organic farming community and sustainable agricultural practices.
From April to October, the farm raises over 700 Cornish-Cross broiler chickens, moving them from the safety of the brooding coop to organic pastures where they can peck and scratch in spacious, well-ventilated pens. Their flock of Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red, and Barred Rock hens provides fresh eggs while roaming the fields in mobile coops called chick-shaws. The farm has embraced innovative growing techniques, including high tunnels that extend their growing season, and they've made sustainability a priority by installing solar energy systems in 2017 to power their entire operation, from home and coolers to irrigation systems and electric fencing.
