About the Farm

For over a century, Hurd Farm has been a testament to the enduring power of family tradition and agricultural heritage. Since 1923, this New Hampshire farm has been lovingly tended by four generations of the Hurd family, with the land itself becoming as much a part of their identity as the animals they raise. Today, Steve Hurd carries on this legacy alongside his wife Sheryl and daughters Morgan and Leanne, representing the third generation to live and farm on this cherished 160-acre property.

The farm's commitment to sustainability runs deeper than daily practice, reaching into the very future of the land itself. In 2005, the Hurd family made the profound decision to place their entire property under a conservation easement, permanently protecting it from development and ensuring that future Hurd generations will continue to enjoy the vast open fields, tree-lined acres, and views of the Taylor River. This conservation minded approach reflects their understanding that farming is not just about today's harvest, but about preserving a way of life for generations to come.

At the heart of Hurd Farm's philosophy lies a simple yet powerful belief: raising happy, healthy animals to provide their community with healthy, delicious food. Their animals roam freely across natural pastures, fed an all-natural diet with no antibiotics or growth stimulants. From their 100% grass-fed Black Angus and Pinzgauer cross cattle to their free-range Red Sex Link chickens, every animal receives care that honors both traditional farming methods and modern understanding of animal welfare. The family believes that by bringing their farm to your table, customers are investing in a future where local farms remain an integral part of the community.
