Kellie Brook Farm began in 1992 when Tim Rocha, a mechanical engineer with over a decade of corporate experience, purchased 30 acres of land in Greenland, New Hampshire. Growing up on a dairy farm in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Tim's path back to farming was gradual and purposeful. He initially grew Christmas trees and vegetables before making the pivotal decision in 1997 to leave the corporate world behind and return to farming full time. In 2002, he expanded into raising chickens, cows, and pigs, marking the beginning of what would become a thriving meat operation.
The farm has remained truly family-owned and operated throughout its three-decade journey, with Tim's children playing integral roles in its success. Kellie Rocha, who was just two years old when her father bought the farm, began helping with vegetable picking as a toddler and was running the Stratham Farmers' Market stand independently by age 13. Now a licensed therapist with degrees from the University of New Hampshire, she continues her involvement at the Portsmouth and Winter Farmers' Markets. Her brothers Timothy and Andrew, along with her husband Heath Gray, each contribute their unique skills while the newest generation, young farmers Lillie and Lulu, are already helping take orders and care for the animals.
What sets Kellie Brook Farm apart is their commitment to naturally raised meats and sustainable farming practices. Their pigs, chickens, and turkeys receive no growth stimulants, hormones, antibiotics, or animal by-products. Instead, the livestock enjoys a varied diet of locally gleaned produce from neighboring farms during harvest season, supplemented with alternative feeds like bread, yogurt, apples, pumpkins, and vegetables. This farm-to-trough approach results in slower-growing animals that produce exceptionally flavorful, juicy cuts of meat that cannot be replicated in commercial operations. All pork is USDA inspected locally in New Hampshire, and their pigs are free-ranged, embodying the farm's dedication to quality and animal welfare.
