The story of Mack's Apples begins in 1732, when John Mack arrived in Londonderry, New Hampshire, from Londonderry, Ireland with his new wife, Isabella Brown. The area was then known as Nutfield and included land owned by Matthew Thornton, who would later sign the Declaration of Independence. The Mack family settled the land, growing potatoes and other crops, raising cattle, and eventually planting apple trees, laying the foundation for a tradition that continues nearly three centuries later.
Today, Mack's Apples, also known as Moose Hill Orchards, stands proud as both a National Bicentennial Farm and the oldest orchard in the state of New Hampshire. This historic operation has evolved into one of the largest orchards in New England, where generations of dedication to farming have shaped it into a beloved destination. Families, friends, and visitors from across New England come to experience some of the region's finest fruit and taste authentic New Hampshire agriculture.
The farm's Pick Your Own program has earned recognition with two People's Choice Awards in the Best of New Hampshire edition of New Hampshire Magazine, establishing Mack's as the largest pick your own destination in New Hampshire. From spring's blossoming orchards through fall's peak apple harvest, the farm offers an immersive agricultural experience where visitors can pick strawberries, raspberries, apples, pears, peaches, and pumpkins right from the fields and orchards. At their farm stand, guests discover an abundance of fresh, locally grown goodness served with genuine New Hampshire hospitality.
