About the Farm

The story of McKinstry Farms began in 1908 when sixteen-year-old Willard McKinstry purchased a market wagon and launched his own produce business. With fresh vegetables loaded and ready for market, young Willard found a warm welcome among local residents, particularly those living in tenement houses without garden space of their own. His daily deliveries became a cherished routine, and his genuine care for customers helped establish his reputation as both a skilled market gardener and an honest businessman.

Today, Willard McKinstry's vision and values continue to flourish under the stewardship of his grandson, also named Willard, and his wife Nicole. The farm has evolved into McKinstry Market Garden, Inc., maintaining the founding principles while expanding to meet modern needs. Their retail store serves as a hub for the freshest, highest-quality produce while proudly supporting other local producers through partnerships that bring honey, maple syrup, dairy products, meat, and artisanal goods to their customers.

At the heart of McKinstry Farms lies an unwavering commitment to their motto: "Picked Fresh Daily." This dedication to freshness drives every aspect of their operation, from their diverse CSA program that serves families throughout the growing season to their in-house bakery that delights customers with daily-baked goods.
