About the Farm

Moon In The Pond Farm is nestled on a quiet and picturesque dirt road in the southern Berkshire hills of Sheffield, Massachusetts, where it has been raising food naturally and sharing the experience since 1991. Throughout its history, the farm has maintained a strong and growing commitment to production and education, maintaining a focus on the elegant integration of historic and modern technologies. The farm serves as the home base of Farm Education, Inc., a Massachusetts registered non-profit organization.

Farmer Dominic Palumbo leads this diversified, artisanal working farm with an unwavering dedication to organic, regenerative agriculture. Well before organic became mainstream, Moon In The Pond was committed to eschewing toxic, unnatural treatments of the land, plants, and animals. As Farmer Dom explains, he started farming because of his love for food and cooking, wanting the comfort of knowing his food was not contaminated with chemicals and antibiotics when few local sources existed in the early 1990s.

Within the setting of this working farm, Farm Education teaches the value and cultural necessity of sustainable farming and vital rural agricultural communities. The farm demonstrates its commitment to diversity through a wide range of animals and plants that make up a complex system, using management practices that promote soil life and healthy systems based on regenerative cycles that nature illustrates. All proceeds from sales support the farm's educational mission, and Moon In The Pond has become a nonprofit partner of "1% for the Planet," connecting with an alliance of over 1,100 member companies committed to environmental causes.
