The story of Moors End Farm begins with a simple problem: too many tomatoes. In 1973, newlyweds Sue and Steve started a vegetable garden at the site of the former Nantucket Dairy, where the Slosek family had once operated. When tomato season ended with an abundance of harvest, they loaded their extra produce into a wheelbarrow and sold it roadside rather than let it go to waste.
This humble beginning sparked a vision to serve the local demand for fresh, locally grown produce on Nantucket Island. Steve furthered his agricultural knowledge by attending Stockbridge School of Agriculture on his GI Bill, while their children Sam and Abby joined the growing family. Since 1975, their passion for farming has made them a beloved staple of the Nantucket community.
Today, Moors End Farm has expanded far beyond that original wheelbarrow, adding more greenhouses, greater variety, and family-focused community events. Their mission remains unchanged: to provide the community of Nantucket with fresh, quality produce in a fun and welcoming environment. As a family-run operation, they believe their love for farming shows in the quality of their products, with everything grown with passion, tended with care, and harvested with love.
