The New Hampshire Mushroom Company was founded by Eric Milligan, a dedicated mushroom forager who began studying fungi in 2002. A decade later, he and his partners converted that passion into a career, and the company has since become a leading source of specialty cultivated and wild mushrooms in northern New England. Based on Gardner Hill Road in Tamworth, New Hampshire, the operation supplies restaurants across New Hampshire and Maine, sells at farmers markets and specialty stores, and operates a year-round retail shop that opened in 2020.

Beyond growing and foraging mushrooms, the New Hampshire Mushroom Company has developed an extensive line of functional mushroom products. Their offerings include fresh cultivated mushrooms such as lion's mane, oyster, shiitake, maitake, and chestnut varieties, as well as dried mushrooms and powders. The company also produces mushroom tinctures, capsules, mushroom-infused coffee, chai latte mix, and hot cocoa, all crafted with double-extracted fruiting bodies from mushrooms grown on the farm.

The company has earned recognition from WMUR's Cook's Corner and New Hampshire Chronicle, and was featured in the documentary film about foraging and food systems. Education is a central part of the mission, with the farm offering a rich schedule of classes and events throughout the year, including cooking with mushrooms, mushroom identification, foraging excursions, and the popular Friday Forage, Fungi and Fibers program.
