Newburyport Fish, known locally as FISH, is a fresh seafood market established in 2017 in the Tannery Marketplace on the Newburyport waterfront. Owner Fred was inspired by happy memories of deep sea fishing trips with his dad and brothers when he scouted the location. He envisioned more than just a fish market -- he wanted to build an inclusive community centered around great seafood, where recipe swaps, supporting other local shops, and developing real relationships with customers were the cornerstones of the business. The market carries a wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish including striped bass, salmon, halibut, snapper, oysters, lobster, and mussels, along with prepared items like poke bowls. FISH also hosts the annual Oysterfest In The Port, a popular fall event where oyster farmers from Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire shuck and serve their oysters while sharing their passion for sustainable aquaculture. All shells from the event are recycled to help restore local oyster reefs.
