About the Farm

North Meadow Farm is a small dairy farm nestled in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, where the vision of bringing an old, tired farm back to life has become a beautiful reality. Dave Johnson was leasing land at the farm for hay when he envisioned it becoming a thriving dairy farm and farmstead cheese company. He joined forces with Lisa Cross and Jesse Pomeroy to transform this dream into the authentic Vermont farm destination that exists today.

The heart of North Meadow Farm lies in its sustainable approach to farming and deep respect for animal welfare. They milk between 10-15 cows at a time and care for about 50 animals in total, including a small herd of Jersey, Guernsey, and Holstein cows that spend their days grazing in green pastures and feed on hay produced by those same fields during winter. Most of their petting farm animals are rescues, reflecting their passionate commitment to animal welfare and treating every creature with the same respect given to family.

The farm's mission centers on providing families with honest and wholesome insights into farm life, highlighting the natural processes of food production and its health benefits. Their cheese maker, Lysa Connors Cross, transforms hundreds of gallons of milk weekly into artisanal cheeses aged on-site in their cheese cave, while Jesse Pomeroy brings over five generations of farming experience to handle daily operations. They believe in a system of sustainability that goes beyond organic, farming as their great-grandparents did while welcoming visitors year-round to experience the genuine taste of Vermont's agricultural richness.
