Pork Hill Farm began its journey in 2009 when Katie Doyle Smith and Paul Swegel started farming together on just one acre of land behind the Ossipee Mountain Grange Hall. What began as a modest venture has flourished into a five-acre certified organic operation that has been serving the community for over a decade. The farm's name comes from its location on Pork Hill Road, and while they don't raise pigs themselves, the farmers are happy to connect customers with local producers who do.
At the heart of Pork Hill Farm lies a deep commitment to sustainable agriculture and community health. The farm achieved Certified Organic status in 2010 and follows the strict guidelines of the National Organic Program, with certification through MOFGA. Their farming philosophy centers on ecological responsibility, using compost, manure, and cover crops for soil building while completely avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers anywhere on the property.
The farm's mission extends beyond simply growing food to fostering genuine connections between the land, the farmers, and their community. They believe that growing local food directly impacts the health and vitality of their community, environment, and economy. Through their farm stand, CSA program, and wholesale delivery to grocery stores and summer camps, they provide high-quality organic vegetables, herbs, and cut flowers while supporting local food systems and sustainable agriculture practices.
