Lane and Meryl Nevins established Prospect Farm in 2011 with a vision that would take years to fully realize. What began as a dream has evolved into a thriving diversified livestock operation committed to raising animals with integrity and in harmony with nature. Their mission centers on offering honest and nourishing food to their regional community, a goal that has remained constant even as their perspective on farming has continually evolved.

Nestled in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the farm occupies 70 acres of an old dairy property directly on Route 2 in Lunenburg. This remarkable Connecticut River Valley location, known to locals as "The Flats," sits right on the New Hampshire border. The property, which had been unused for many years when they acquired it, continues to require dedicated care and attention. The Nevins have embraced this challenge wholeheartedly, learning more about the land and how to best steward it with each passing season.

For Lane and Meryl, farming represents far more than simply producing meat. It embodies the pursuit of an independent, self-supporting life that is both meaningful and delicious. As their family has grown, sharing this way of life with their children has become the most rewarding aspect of their work. Teaching and learning from their children while building on that original dream through the seasons has proven incredibly fulfilling, despite the natural hardships and uncertainties that come with farming. Their passion for engaging with their community drives them forward, and they find honor in making a positive impact in what they see as an uphill battle for a better food system.
