Rising Tide Oyster Company was born from the passion and environmental dedication of Joshua and Jessica Carloni, who both work full-time jobs in environmental conservation. Starting their part-time oyster farming venture in 2014, the couple was drawn to the allure of working on the water and cultivating a deeper connection to the natural environment that they cherish so deeply.
What began as a side endeavor has evolved into something much more meaningful for the Carlonis. Their time on the farm has become a cherished escape from the demands of modern technology, offering them a peaceful retreat where they can work with their hands and tend to their oysters with meticulous care. The frequent trips to the farm ensure the highest quality product possible, with oyster seed starting in protective condos before being transferred to trays after about a year of growth.
The business has also strengthened their ties to the local community, as they work closely with other regional farmers and collaborate with chefs at restaurants throughout Portsmouth and neighboring towns where their oysters are proudly featured. Both Joshua and Jessica are ardent supporters of the eat local food movement, and they take particular pride in the fact that all of their oysters are sold exclusively within New England, supporting the regional food system they believe in so deeply.
