About the Farm

Rocky Acres Farm LLC stands as a testament to multi-generational dedication to farming in Sterling, Massachusetts, home of the world famous Mary's Little Lamb. The farm's story began in 1938 when Wilfred Favreau purchased the property from the Bosely family to maintain and operate a dairy farm on approximately 80 acres of farmland situated on the north side of the Wachusett Reservoir.

The farm's evolution continued through the Favreau family line as Lawrence Favreau inherited the operation while simultaneously running Favreau Cleaners, a dry cleaning service. Lawrence successfully managed both businesses and made the strategic transition from dairy farming to raising a Black Angus beef herd. The legacy then passed to his son, Lawrence R. Favreau, who returned from active military service in the United States Army to expand the farm's livestock operations, adding Yorkshire cross swines and Suffolk cross sheep while working off-site as a heavy equipment operator.

In 2002, the farm transitioned to its current form as Rocky Acres Farm LLC, now encompassing 80 acres of farmed land plus an additional 100 acres of off-site farming. Today, the Favreau family takes pride in raising over 60 Simmental Angus and Hereford beef cattle, maintaining their commitment to healthy farming practices on healthy land. They believe deeply that their careful stewardship of both animals and land produces healthy food, and they are honored to provide nourishment from their family to yours.
