The Saltonstall Farm is a third generation, veteran owned family farm with roots that stretch back to post-World War II America. Dr. Henry Saltonstall, a Bostonian who served as a US Army field surgeon in Europe during WWII, purchased a small farm in rural Stratham, New Hampshire after the war to be near his brother in nearby Exeter. For nearly fifty years, Dr. Saltonstall served the local community as a small town doctor, becoming a beloved figure whose legacy of healing lives on in the stories of old timers who remember him mending broken bones and removing angry appendixes.
His daughter Caroline grew up on the farm, riding horses with her siblings on the main roads of Stratham in a simpler time. When Caroline married Buck Robinson, they took over the farm in 1991 and established Berry Hill Farm, an organic, pick-your-own berry operation that would set the foundation for the farm's future. Their daughter Sophie inherited not just the land but the deep connection to it, knowing from childhood that she wanted to continue the farming legacy. In 2019, Sophie married K. Kyle Blume, and together they took the Saltonstall name and began stewarding the property as the current generation.
Today, Kyle and Sophie Saltonstall operate a three-part business that honors both tradition and innovation. They grow organically produced berries using spray-free practices that prioritize environmental health, consumer safety, and worker well-being. The farm also features a bespoke three-bedroom farm stay and a beautifully renovated 200-year-old cow barn that serves as a premier wedding and event venue. With their three small children, the Saltonstalls are deeply committed to being active members of the Stratham community, viewing their role as sacred stewards of the land while providing a joyful place for others to celebrate life's most cherished moments.
