Silverman’s Farm is a cherished family destination and working farm in Easton, Connecticut, founded in the early 1920s by Ben Silverman. A New York City native with a passion for gardening, Ben moved to Connecticut as a young man and eventually saved enough to purchase his first parcel of land on Sport Hill Road. His initial endeavor was a cider mill—one that became a local staple for over six decades. Ben lived modestly on the farm, slowly expanding the property and raising a family while building a reputation for hard work and agricultural excellence.
Through the mid-20th century, Silverman’s Farm flourished as a classic “truck farm,” growing a vast array of fruits and vegetables for local families who preserved them for the long New England winters. Ben and his wife Rose raised eight children, and their youngest son, Irv, grew especially passionate about fruit production. Irv took over the farm in the 1970s and ushered in a new era, transforming the property into a pick-your-own orchard and agritourism destination. Scenic tractor rides, a charming petting zoo, and educational school tours turned the farm into a seasonal tradition for countless Connecticut families.
Today, Silverman’s is still proudly operated by Irv and his extended family, who continue to blend heritage and hospitality into every corner of the farm. From rows of heirloom apples to bustling farm markets and whimsical animal enclosures, Silverman’s offers the quintessential farm experience. Generations of visitors return each year not just for the produce or pies, but for the sense of warmth and nostalgia that only a farm like this can provide. It is a living testament to a century of care, rooted in the Silverman family’s love for land, food, and community.
