About the Farm

Sprout Farm began its journey in the early 1980s when Jay and Phyllis Sprout started raising goats, chickens, and strawberries on their property. During those formative years, they gradually transitioned away from livestock, slowly working their way out of the chickens and goats while discovering their true calling. By the late 1980s, they had begun selling excess vegetables at the end of their driveway, soon adding fresh corn from a local farm to their offerings.

The farm experienced significant growth in 2003 when the Sprouts erected their first large greenhouse to cultivate hanging baskets, potted plants, and flats. This expansion marked a turning point in their operation, allowing them to extend their growing season and diversify their plant offerings. Since then, they have continued to expand their greenhouse facilities, adding two more structures to accommodate their early season plantings and sophisticated growing systems.

Today, Sprout Farm operates as a dedicated farm stand and greenhouse operation, open from April through Thanksgiving. Jay and Phyllis have perfected their craft, particularly excelling in tomato production using advanced hydroponic systems with individual fertilizer and water spikes. Their commitment to seasonal, locally-grown produce drives them to travel off Cape daily during corn season, typically from early July through the end of October, ensuring their customers receive the freshest possible offerings.
