About the Farm

Stefan Farms is a family-run farm nestled in Windsor, Connecticut, rooted in a deep commitment to health, sustainability, and community. The farm is operated by Mark, affectionately known as “The Farmer,” and Susanne, his wife, who describes herself as a farmer, herbalist, educator, and mother. After Mark's military service, the couple began farming to supplement their own food supply, leasing land they still work today. Over the years, their labor of love has grown into a robust operation serving their local community through CSA shares, farmers markets, and direct retail.

Guided by what Susanne calls a “Minimalistic-Alternative” approach, the farm champions non-GMO agriculture, avoids harsh chemicals, and favors soil health as the foundation for healthy produce. Their philosophy is simple but profound: healthy soil yields healthy plants, which in turn nourish healthy people. This integrity is reflected in their transparent farming practices and personal interactions with customers. Every vegetable is grown with care, and every customer interaction is treated as a moment of shared connection and education.

The family’s CSA program is not only generous and flexible but deeply personal. Rather than pre-packaged boxes, members choose their produce directly from the farm’s market tables, empowering them to select what they love and learn about new items. This market-style CSA runs from July through November and includes full, half, and fall share options. Susanne also uses the platform to share recipes, herbal knowledge, and reflections on homeschooling and parenting, making Stefan Farms feel more like a movement than just a farm. It's no surprise many customers describe the experience as nourishing both body and soul.
