About the Farm

Taft Farms has been a pioneer in the farming industry for over 50 years, nestled in the picturesque Housatonic River Valley near the Monument Mountain nature preserve. Founded in 1968 by Dan and Martha Tawczynski, the farm began with an original 85-acre purchase that has since expanded to over 200 acres of Berkshire County farmland. The founders took what many considered a crazy leap of faith, exploring their land with smiles and determination to make their agricultural dream work.

With each passing season, Taft Farms renews its commitment to sustainable agriculture through pesticide-free growing, watershed management, and minimal fertilizer use. The farm specializes in heirloom and hard-to-find varieties, with land that yields three or more seasons worth of food. Their dedication to quality extends beyond growing, as they take "Farm To Table" to another level, making their farm truly their table and inviting the community to sit and eat at it.

In 2022, Paul Tawczynski, son of founders Dan and Martha, took over management of the family operation, bringing his culinary expertise as a chef to oversee extensive upgrades and expansions of both the Market and Kitchen Operations. The farm's dedicated staff, some of whom have been with Taft Farms for over two decades, have created a genuine community connection that visitors feel as soon as they walk through the door. This second-generation family business continues to serve the Berkshires with everything from seasonal produce and baked goods to prepared meals, maintaining their reputation for quality, variety, and warm hospitality.
