Nestled among the gentle hills and fertile river-bottom soils of northern Woodbury, Connecticut, The Farm is an agricultural haven devoted to growing diverse, non-GMO produce, vibrant flowers, and sustainably raised meats. Founded in 1988, The Farm has grown steadily, guided by a family deeply rooted in agriculture. The property spans approximately 180 lush acres, where fields of vegetables and flowers flourish alongside greenhouses teeming with carefully tended plants and transplants. Emphasizing a holistic, integrated approach, The Farm practices soil conservation, composting, and Integrated Pest Management to maintain environmental balance.
The farm’s dedicated stewardship is led by a passionate family team, now into its second generation of growers. Initially dairy farmers in Newtown, Connecticut, the family faced the pressures of rising land values in the 1980s and adapted by moving operations to Woodbury, continuing their farming tradition. Over decades, they've expanded carefully—not to become the largest farm, but rather to remain sustainable and secure for their growing families and community. Beyond vegetables, The Farm nurtures honeybees and operates a thriving sugarbush for maple syrup production under the Woodbury Sugar Shed brand, originating as a modest backyard hobby in 1982 and now producing hundreds of gallons of high-quality maple syrup annually.
Deeply connected to their local community, The Farm actively supports local educational programs, charities, and town initiatives. They foster agricultural education by employing local high school agri-science students, passing valuable skills onto the next generation. With offerings that span seasonal CSA programs, an accessible farmstand, and innovative pre-paid Harvest Cards, The Farm remains devoted to providing families with nutritious, locally-grown foods year-round. At the heart of it all is a steadfast mission: to cultivate not only exceptional produce but also a profound understanding and appreciation for the land that sustains us.
