About the Farm

Tucked into a historic stretch of farmland in Farmington, Connecticut, The Farm Truck at Hein Farm is a vibrant, woman-owned operation that blends agricultural tradition with modern community connection. The land, farmed by the Hein family for over 200 years, found new life in 2020 when Jennifer Villa officially took the reins. A lifelong Connecticut resident and landscape designer by trade, Jennifer had long been passionate about plants, classic farm trucks, and locally grown food. In 2017, she launched Farmington Farm Truck—a mobile farmers market born of these loves—and by 2020, it blossomed into a full-fledged farm and permanent stand at 303 Meadow Road.

Today, Jennifer stewards 22 acres of farmland, actively growing on five, with a deep commitment to organic practices and soil health. Her vision includes a robust garden center, cut-your-own flower gardens, and a bustling farm stand filled with fresh produce—both homegrown and sourced from other Connecticut farms. The farm is also home to a flock of free-ranging, bell-wearing “jingle chickens,” who delight visitors young and old. Whether you're picking up heirloom tomatoes, cutting flowers in bloom, or enjoying a CSA share of local abundance, the farm is designed to reconnect people with the joys of real food and seasonal living.

Beyond growing food, The Farm Truck at Hein Farm cultivates community. Signature events like the Chickenstock Music Festival and Firefly Fridays draw crowds with live music, food trucks, hayrides, and more. Jennifer also honors the land’s legacy by supporting local nonprofits, youth programs, and creating the annual David and Martha Hein Agriculture Scholarship, awarded to Farmington High students pursuing agricultural paths. The farm is not only a place to shop or stroll—it’s a hub of education, celebration, and enduring stewardship, deeply rooted in the belief that local is not just better—it’s essential.
