Operated by the Manix family since 1770, Walker Farm has evolved from its historic roots into a horticultural destination that draws flower lovers from all over New England and New York. Located in the southeast corner or "Banana Belt" of beautiful Southern Vermont in the historic Town of Dummerston, the farm has earned prestigious recognition as one of the 5 Best Nurseries in New England by Yankee Magazine in 2012 and one of the top 5 in Vermont in 2021. Under the ownership of Jack, Karen, Dustin, and Kristin Manix, Walker Farm has developed into a complex agricultural operation that encompasses multiple facets of sustainable farming. They specialize in choice garden and container annuals, rare perennials, trees, shrubs and conifers as well as Certified Organic heirloom and ethnic vegetable starts. The farm maintains both a destination garden center and an organic Vermont farmstand, while also operating Community Supported Agriculture programs designed to fit every lifestyle and running a certified organic Christmas tree farm called Elysian Hills Tree Farm.
Walker Farm's commitment to certified organic practices reflects their dedication to both environmental stewardship and customer satisfaction. Their farmstand offers the finest organic fruits and vegetables from their carefully nurtured fields, while their employment of 35-40 people at peak season demonstrates their role as a significant contributor to the local agricultural community.
