About the Farm

The Koebke family has been farming the same land in Worcester County since 1910, representing four and five generations of dedicated agricultural stewardship. As a family of five living and working together on their ancestral farm, they have maintained a deep connection to the land while adapting their practices to meet the needs of modern consumers. Their farm encompasses over 230 acres that they keep open and green, serving as both productive farmland and a preservation of rural landscape in Central Massachusetts.

Walnut Lane Farm specializes in grass-fed and finished beef, raising South Devon-Angus cross cattle through rotational grazing practices. Their cattle spend their days grazing pastures during the growing season and consume stored grass hay and baleage produced on the farm during winter months. This 100% grass diet approach requires more time to bring cattle to market weight, but results in beef with superior marbling, tenderness, and nutritional profile, including higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids and CLA compared to conventionally raised beef.

The farm's mission centers on producing the highest quality meats through responsible, transparent, and regenerative farming practices that prioritize animal welfare and soil health. They are committed to building their business around producing healthy food for both their own family and their local community, selling directly to neighbors through their on-farm store and farmers markets. The Koebkes understand the challenges of maintaining a healthy diet within budget constraints and work to make local, quality food accessible to families who value knowing where their food comes from.
