Lori Baker and Les Snow moved to Marshfield in 1989 and started one of the first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) projects in the country at Wellspring Farm. Over the years, CSAs have become a huge part of the farm-fresh movement, and today Les and Lori maintain an extensive garden and flower beds, providing healthy food throughout the year as well as wonderful bouquets for their table.
Having run multiple businesses in the past, including working as a freelance illustrator with national clients for 17 years and running Kidlets, an up-cycled hats and booties company for kids across the country, Lori brings considerable entrepreneurial experience to the farm. She also served as executive director of a community justice center and earned her master's in mediation, giving her the skills and experience needed for starting and running an enterprise. Les serves as Lori's microgreens growing, harvesting, and delivering assistant, and oversees Wellspring Greens' freeze-dried microgreens operation called Pür Microgreens.
After focusing on personal rather than professional matters while addressing a health issue for many years, Lori now has the time and energy to experiment and grow. She has discovered that growing and sharing microgreens is a perfect match for her skills and interests, and she continues to test many varieties of crops to find yet more amazing mixes to share with subscribers. Together, Lori and Les appreciate being able to keep Wellspring Greens ultra-local with a minimal carbon footprint, working toward growing a healthier community.
