About the Farm

Woven Roots Farm is a traditional, hand-scale vegetable farm, Community Supported Agriculture program, and education center located on unceded Mohican land in the present-day Berkshire hills of Western Massachusetts. Through a deep relationship with the land and one another, they commit to feeding, educating, and empowering their community members by co-creating pathways to become healthier individuals, ethical growers, and caretakers of the earth and one another.

Co-founders Jen and Pete Salinetti began farming 23 years ago with an honor-box farm stand, transitioning into a full-time farming lifestyle in 2005. They implemented no-till, hand-scale production methods, which allowed them to work in deep relationship with the land, sequester carbon, and ultimately offer the community vibrant, beautiful food. The transition came at a time when they were beginning a family, determined to find a way to care for themselves, care for the land, and be fully present as parents. Initially providing food to various independent and community-owned businesses and local restaurants, their personal journey expanded with a deepening awareness of the privilege and inequity of access to healthy local food in their community.

In 2010, they started a seasonal CSA program as a way to provide direct access to fresh, vibrant food at an affordable price. With the support of Berkshire Grown, they launched a Solidarity Share Fund to support the BIPOC community and other marginalized neighbors by providing direct access to fresh food and knowledge sharing at an affordable price. This has grown into their equitable sliding scale model and their food sovereignty program, Seeding Solidarity, created in collaboration with their sibling farm, Finca Luna Búho. As they strengthened their relationship with their community members both above and below the soil, their farm team grew to ten farmers collaborating to generate vibrant, fresh produce for their neighbors.
