Yellow Stonehouse Farm stands as Westfield's first USDA Certified Organic Community Supported Agriculture program, sprawling across 79 acres that straddle both Westfield and Southampton, Massachusetts. The farm is uniquely positioned within a Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Landscape, where the Manhan River gracefully divides the property, creating an idyllic environment that nurtures both agriculture and wildlife. This distinctive geography allows the farm to cultivate over 17 acres of certified organic vegetables and flowers in Westfield while dedicating 24 acres in Southampton to conservation efforts.
The farm's commitment to environmental stewardship runs deep, maintaining extensive vernal pool areas, preserving a stand of 200-year-old Beech trees, and cultivating fields of milkweed specifically to support the Monarch Butterflies that visit annually. As a chemical-free operation, Yellow Stonehouse Farm proudly eschews GMOs, chemical pesticides, and herbicides, instead embracing organic farming practices that focus on soil biology, crop diversity, and plant health. This dedication to pure, sustainable agriculture eliminates harmful chemicals from their production process, protecting water, soil, air, farmworkers, and the precious wildlife that calls their land home.
The farm operates on a Community Supported Agriculture model, offering a limited number of shares that connect members directly to the land through Weekly Full Farm shares or Every Other Week Full Farm shares. These generous portions, designed to feed families of at least four, span over 20 weeks during the growing season from early June through late October, with additional winter shares extending until early February. Members enjoy not only abundant harvests but also access to Pick Your Own gardens, fresh flowers, and scenic picnic areas alongside the Manhan River, creating a true farm-to-table experience that celebrates the harmonious coexistence between agriculture and nature.
