Beckett Farms is a multigenerational family farm rooted in the heart of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Established in 1973 when Chip Beckett’s father purchased the Old Cider Mill to preserve it from development, the farm has grown into a cornerstone of the local agricultural community. Over the years, the Beckett family has steadily expanded its operations, establishing Glastonbury’s oldest running CSA and supplying local restaurants, grocers, and schools with fresh, sustainable produce.
Chip Beckett returned to Glastonbury in the early 1980s after completing veterinary school, merging his professional practice with the family’s farming vision. In 1985, he expanded the farm by acquiring adjacent acreage and founding Beckett and Associates Veterinary Services. This dual passion—for both animal and crop care—has led Beckett Farms to adopt a deeply considered, environmentally conscious approach to agriculture.
Today, the farm is a vibrant ecosystem of fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and sheep raised for wool, meat, and milk. Beckett Farms practices Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and utilizes a variety of sustainable methods including minimal tillage, pollinator gardens, drip irrigation, cover crops, and biodegradable mulch. They also maintain bee hives and offer handmade sheep milk soap and wool products crafted by Leah at Herd Supply Co. Through their CSA program, bustling farm stand, and active participation in farmers markets across the region, Beckett Farms remains a vital part of Connecticut’s agricultural landscape.
