Big Rock Oyster Company is a family-owned and operated venture that began its journey in 2001 when Aaron and Julie Brochu started raising oysters on a grant from the town of Dennis. What started as a modest experiment with 10,000 oyster seeds transformed into something special when, two years later, they harvested enough oysters to share their first bounty with families during Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.
The heart of their operation lies in the pristine waters of Cape Cod Bay, where Big Rock Oysters grow in aqua trays on the tidal flats at Crowes Pasture in Dennis, Massachusetts. This protected location, enclosed by Cape Cod to the south and east and Plymouth County to the west, provides the ideal environment for cultivating their signature oysters. Over the years, what began as a small family adventure has evolved into a dynamic seafood wholesaling operation that specializes in shellfish throughout Cape Cod and beyond.
