About the Farm

Brown’s Harvest is a seventh-generation, female-owned and operated family farm rooted in the heart of Windsor, Connecticut. The Brown family's farming legacy dates back to the 1860s when ancestor James Brown emigrated from England and began cultivating Connecticut tobacco—quickly gaining global prestige for its quality as a cigar wrapper leaf. Over a century later, in 1978, the family opened their farm stand to the public, initially offering strawberries and vegetables before expanding to pumpkins and other seasonal favorites.

Today, sisters Kathi Martin and Sue Connor carry forward this rich farming tradition on a preserved 58-acre parcel in the Poquonock section of Windsor. With a mission to serve the community through fresh, naturally grown produce and family-oriented experiences, Brown’s Harvest has become a seasonal mainstay for locals and visitors alike. They avoid commercial pesticides and only grow what they feel confident feeding their own families, harvesting from Hartford River Valley’s nutrient-rich soils.

Beyond produce, Brown’s Harvest offers a broad array of experiences: pick-your-own strawberries, blueberries, and flowers; educational field trips and birthday parties; seasonal festivals; workshops; and a farm retail store stocked with jams, pickles, honey, eggs, handcrafted salsas, maple syrup, and rotating home decor. The farm has become a beloved gathering spot where families can create meaningful memories across generations. From the charm of the farm stand to the thrill of hayrides and corn mazes, Brown’s Harvest continues to cultivate both crops and community.
