Clear Brook Farm was established in 1995 in Shaftsbury, Vermont, and has been growing certified organic vegetables, fruits, and bedding plants for over three decades. What began as a small agricultural venture has blossomed into a thriving operation that cultivates over 45 acres of land, with 25-30 acres dedicated to vegetables and 2-3 acres devoted to small fruit production, while the remainder rotates with cover crops to maintain soil health.
The farm operates with a deep commitment to organic farming practices, earning certification from the Vermont Organic Farmers Association. Their belief that eating locally grown, organic food represents the best choice for consumers, the environment, and the local economy drives their dedication to sustainable agricultural practices. At the height of the growing season, a crew of 25 or more people helps keep the farm running smoothly, creating a vibrant community workspace.
Clear Brook Farm has distinguished itself through innovative community engagement, offering Community Supported Agriculture programs for over 20 seasons. Their approach includes three unique CSA programs - Summer, Winter, and Deep Winter - each designed to support the farm and strengthen the local community throughout the year. The farm's Produce Stand serves as the main sales outlet, functioning as a one-stop market that not only features their certified organic produce and plants but also supports other local producers by offering regional cheeses, yogurt, meats, and baked goods.
