About the Farm

Green Mountain Bee Farm is a family-owned operation run by Michael and Nicole Willard in Fairfax, Vermont, nestled in Vermont's northern Champlain Valley in the foothills of the Green Mountains. Michael brings impressive credentials to the operation as a Vermont Certified Beekeeper and past President of the Vermont Beekeeper's Association, while the couple maintains active membership in the Eastern Apicultural Society.

The farm has distinguished itself through exceptional honey production, with their bees creating award-winning Vermont honey from wildflowers in the Champlain Valley. Their achievements include winning "Best in Show" at the 2013 Eastern Apicultural Society Honey Show, "Best Tasting Honey" at the 2012 Eastern Apicultural Society Honey Show, and "Best in Class" honors at both the 2012 and 2013 Vermont Farm Show competitions. The farm also specializes in raising northern Vermont queens and nucleus colonies using Carniolan x VSH cross queens that are carefully selected for their proven survivability in harsh northern Vermont winters, honey production capabilities, and gentle temperament.

Beyond their products, the Willards are committed to education and community service within the beekeeping world. Their stated goal is to help educate and serve the needs of local beekeepers, embodying a philosophy of "paying it forward" to support and strengthen the broader beekeeping community throughout Vermont and beyond.
