Hatch's Fish & Produce Market began with Cliff Hatch, who started his venture by selling fresh fish door to door from the back of his pickup truck. After renting space in what is now called the Golden Cod Gallery on Commercial Street in Wellfleet, Hatch constructed a new building in 1954 on the property behind Wellfleet's town hall, where the market continues to operate today. This family-owned business has been serving the freshest and widest variety of local fish, lobsters, shellfish, and produce to Wellfleet residents and visitors for 70 years.
The market's legacy continued when Rob McClellan began working at Hatch's Fish Market in the summer of 1971, gradually taking on more responsibilities in running the business. In 1983, the year Cliff Hatch died, Rob purchased the operation and convinced his sister Lauren to manage the produce side the following year. Adrien Kmiec joined the Hatch's family in 1991, working his way through the ranks alongside Rob for more than 20 years before purchasing the market with his wife Katy in 2013.
Located on Cape Cod in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, Hatch's is dedicated to providing only the absolute best local seafood by carefully hand selecting from Wellfleet, Harwich, Chatham, Truro and Provincetown day boats. They fillet all their own fish to ensure the finest quality and have been growing their own oysters on a shellfish grant in Wellfleet harbor since 1985, allowing them to mature for at least three years on the sea floor. The market's produce carries more than 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables, much of it organic and locally grown, with daily arrivals that are carefully inspected to maintain the highest quality standards.
